SMEDA Sindh implemented a project on Women Entrepreneurship Training Project under Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP) in collaboration with Women Development Department (WDD), Government of Sindh. The agreement for implementation of the project was signed between SMEDA and Women Development Department on 28th November 2008. This program was successfully implemented at six locations (Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazir Abad) and 300 female students completed 12-week training program. Training was conducted at SZABIST campuses at all six locations. Guest Speaker sessions were arranged and speakers were successful women entrepreneurs, bankers and officials from development organizations. Field Visits were also arranged for the groups to have an exposure of business world and motivate them to opt starting their own business as career. Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Development Program Provincial Coordinating Officials, WDD Officials and Planning & Development Department officials rated this program as one of the best programs conducted under BBSYDP. The second phase of this program was held during the year 2009-2010 in which another batch of 300 female participants were provided entrepreneurship training. All participants prepared comprehensive business plan as part of their training and initial feedback showed much better response from participants on initiating their own business..
