The WBDC Peshawar has designed an intriguing new program for the Junior Entrepreneurs, girls of age group 13-18 years old (which are the girls of Secondary and Higher Secondary schools) with the title of ‘Gen Y’. Under this program, which will be the first of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the little girls of this region will be given the chance to bring forward their talent and enterprising skills into the market through the platform of WBDC. These junior entrepreneurs will be assisted and encouraged to start their own businesses and will also be instilled with the concept of entrepreneurship since they are the future of this nation, this program will contribute to the nation’s economy at large in the times to come.

The session will help to fill the missing lessons of entrepreneurship/self employment, business ideas, skill utility and business management in the curriculum of high schools.
If successfully implicated, this idea/program can potentially be the next big building block in the economy of our country.

For this purpose, the awareness campaign is already under process in which linkages with different schools have been started in order to create awareness and develop interest among the younger lot of Peshawar for starting their own business joining the enterprising group of the community. The first awareness seminar of this initiative has been held at Peshawar Model School, the largest school of City on 21 st November 2012 to 385 students from class 9 th and 10 th.
Results of session were far above the level of expectation in terms of participant’s clear understanding of business concept, their skill literacy, self confidence and enthusiasm. Around eighteen of girls were already practicing small businesses informally as their hobbies of fabric painting, dress designing, photography, hair accessories, and decoration pieces.
WBDC Peshawar requested the academic co-coordinator and principal of Peshawar Model School to arrange an exposure visit of interested students to WBDC for further counseling.
Considering the potential, capacity and strength of skilled and enterprising students in high schools, WBDC Peshawar would propose to hold a series of fun fairs and exhibitions for the junior entrepreneurs.
